Owner Of Dog Hit By Car Found, Dog Succumbs To Injuries
CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) – A sad update as the Craven County Sheriff’s Office was looking to find the owner of a dog hit by a car on Highway 17 south.
The sheriff’s office says the owner was found, but unfortunately the dog died from his injuries.
in a Facebook post the sheriff’s office said, “Sampson’s owner was located, unfortunately Sampson succumbed to his injuries & has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to keep Sampson from suffering and his owner was located in time to say goodbye. We know this big guy will be missed terribly, but we are thankful he was reported & not left on the side of the road. Thanks again Craven County for your continued support!”
A dog that was hit by a car this morning in one Eastern Carolina county is recovering while deputies try to find his owner.
Craven County deputies say the dog was injured on U.S. 17 South.
The dog appears to have severe injuries to his back legs, a broken tooth, and several road rash wounds.
He is being treated at Craven Animal Hospital on Old Cherry Point Road.
Deputies say if you know who the dog belongs to you should immediately call them.
The sheriff’s office says it doesn’t have the funds to care for injured, stray animals, but they are doing their best to help.
